Digital content agency Zone has appointed Matthias Kandel as its senior strategist.

Kandel was previously senior digital strategist at Torben, Lucie und die gelbe Gefahr GmbH in Berlin – Germany’s first social media agency - where he was responible for digital strategy development for Vodafone.

The former online editor of Der Tagesspiegel will now work on Zone's accounts with Coca-Cola, BT and Channel 4.

Zone strategy director, Ric Marshall-Nicholls, said: “Great brand strategists who are also creative digital thinkers are a rare breed. Matthias has just the right combination of both to help Zone create more innovative and effective digital work for our clients. I’m absolutely delighted he is joining the team.”

Kandel's appointment follows Marshall-Nicholls' arrival from WCRS last year and the opening of a German office in Cologne.
