Brand names and logos attached to products installed at Olympic Games venues, such as soap dispensers and furniture, are to be expunged by specialist teams of masking tape wielding Olympic auditors.

Brand Republic reports that several leading names are in line for the low-tech whitewash, including Kimberley-Clark, in a bid to protect those brands which have coughed up for the privilege.

Dubbed the ‘clean stadia policy’ it will apply to all venues operating under the Games banner - including existing sites at Wembley and Wimbledon.

Only branding in ‘wet areas’, such as urinals and sinks, will be spared the purge – presumably to save toilets from becoming clogged up with soggy duct tape.
