Alex Hall, former wife of TV personality Jeremy Clarkson, has spoken out about the “terrifying” super-injunction taken out against her writing about her former marriage.

That order has since been rescinded, allowing Hall to speak her mind to the Joint Committee on Privacy and Injunctions – where she is giving evidence.

There Hall recalled how during a conversation with Clarkson, with whom she “maintains a relationship”, she had mentioned plans to write a book about being married to a celebrity.

Hall recalled Clarkson’s reaction: “About a week later there was an injunction on me. He said, 'I won't have anyone write anything about me'.

''I had no idea about what to do with this injunction, it was just terrifying.''

Mulling Clarkson’s motivations Hall stated she only wanted to pen a “witty self help book”, adding: “He was very worried about his relationship with his current wife, given I still had an association with him, which she probably did not know about.”

Clarkson subsequently abandoned the injunction after describing it as “pointless”.
