Camden Council has appointed Frank PR to promote the positive aspects of the area, following the riots last year.

The agency will be expected to promote the Camden Town app, hosted by Red Or Dead founder Wayne Hemmingway, with music and food channels to be added soon.

Graham Goodkind, chairman and founder of Frank, told Gorkana: "The brief provided us with an interesting challenge of trying to shift perceptions of Camden from crisis to credit and our approach was to focus on the positives and the amazing and eclectic mix that is Camden Town.

"The guided tour app is an amazing way to soak up the atmosphere and vibe of the area and will be a big hit too with the millions of visitors expected this Olympic year."

Simon Pitkeathley, chief executive of Camden Town Unlimited, added: "Like several areas in London, we experienced anti-social behaviour in the borough during the summer.

"We wanted to move quickly to eradicate any perceived stigma attached to the area and commission a piece of work that would shout about all the wonderful things Camden has to offer.

"We are absolutely delighted with the response to the app so far and the download figures are beyond expectations."
