Over half of advertisers revealed Super Bowl ads online before game

The number of advertisers revealing their Super Bowl ad online before game day has increased, with 20 out of the 36 advertisers doing so, it has been revealed.

It is believed that the increase in numbers follows the success of Volkswagen premiering its 2011 ad online before the game, with several brands – including Volkswagen and Honda – also issuing ‘teaser’ ads in the run up to revealing the full commercial.

There was also an increase in the number of ads which featured a hashtag, with Twitter also launching Ad Scrimmage to find out which Super Bowl ads were most popular through Twitter conversations and voting.
