Rupert Murdoch has scotched reports that a mooted April launch of News International’s worst kept secret, an under wraps Sun on Sunday, would be abandoned following the arrest of four Sun journalists at the weekend.

Taking to Twitter Murdoch directly denied the claims, made by the Financial Times, by tweeting: “Financial Times or Fawlty Towers? Sun on Sunday story today 100% wrong.”

The pronouncement breaks the deafening silence from News International officials who have steadfastly refused to offer any comment on their future plans.

Murdoch refused to elaborate further however, sparking speculation as to what the media mogul is plotting, but the clear implication is that the first edition of the fabled paper could be arriving in newsagents sooner rather than later.
