Ad revenue at social networking sites Twitter and LinkedIn is projected to see robust growth for the foreseeable future, according to research by eMarketer.

Looking at paid for advertising only the analysts projected an 83% increase in Twitter ad revenues to $260m and a 46.1% increase in LinkedIn revenues to $226m for 2012.

Twitter is seen as benefitting from robust growth in ad revenues through to 2014 albeit gradually tapering off in percentage change terms.

LinkedIn shares a very similar profile although the professional portal remains streets ahead in terms of non-US revenue with around a third of its earnings generated beyond US shores.

Twitter by contrast is heavily dependent on its home territory, drawing 90% of its revenues from American turf.
