Vince Cable unveils initiative to drive UK digital industry
Business secretary Vince Cable has unveiled an initiative which aims to promote digital businesses across the UK.
The Connected Digital Economy Catapult centre initiative has been set up to promote with the aim of aiding Britain’s digital companies to benefit from the advance of technology to enter their products into the marketplace.
The centre will aim to address the challenges and opportunities faced in building a sustainable digital media and content business, while also researching the impact of new technologies and transfer knowledge and experience from the digital industry to non-digital businesses.
Jonathan Chippindale, CEO, of creative services agency, Holition, which specialises in emerging technologies, commented:"It is great to see the government investing in creative digital skills and experience during this tough economic climate. These centres will have a positive impact on the UK's economic recovery, as well as providing opportunities and support for much needed technological innovation.
"We are proud to be in a privileged position where we can support the initiative and help leading retail brands differentiate themselves through our expertise and augmented reality solutions. This will have tremendous benefits for the industry as we can create opportunities for brands to offer a highly interactive consumer experience and support the survival of the British high street," added Chippindale.
