One of the world's most popular mobile video games, Angry Birds, is coming to Facebook. Its debut on the world's most popular social network, is set for Valentine's Day, says the San Jose Mercury News. A commercial posted by Angry Birds describes it as the"biggest Facebook event ever."

The game, launched in 2009, has become a smash hit on smartphones and tablets since then. Angry Birds maker Rovio, a Finnish company, confirmed the launch in a blog post today.

"Nothing says 'Happy Valentine's Day' like competitive pig-popping among friends," Rovio said in its blog post.

The news was originally reported by Asian news source Penn Olson, which cited the chief marketing officer of Rovio, Peter Vesterbacka, and Rovio Asia's senior vice president, Henri Holm. They said the launch would be celebrated with a big event in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Feb. 14.

The Facebook game will add social elements, according to the Penn Olson report, including leaderboards, and monetisation, with players being offered chances to buy special power-ups for 99 cents.

Angry Birds was the top paid app for the iPhone and iPad in 2011, Apple said late last year. Google's social network, Google+ began offering games, including "Angry Birds," in August. The game is also offered as an add-on to Chrome, Google's Web browser.
