Manchester-based Apadmi has developed a new tourism app for Visit Britain.

Developed exclusively for Samsung smartphones, the app has been developed to promote Britain as a compelling destination for tourism before, during and after the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Visitors to Britain can use the app to search for events, festivals, accommodation, entertainment, restaurants and bars.

It also promotes 'locations near to you' and has direct integration with Facebook for additional details on and directions to featured attractions.

Apadmi was appointed to create the app, which was designed by Hiss Design, following recommendation and a series of development workshops

The firm's CEO, Garry Partington, said: "The app is the official guide to the best places to visit around Britain, illustrated with stunning imagery, and is intended to inspire tourists to explore the whole of the UK. It features an animated carousel interface together with clear navigation and Apadmi has also developed a back-end content management system so that it can be easily updated on a regular basis."

Visit Britain commissioned the app in partnership with Samsung as part of Samsung's role as worldwide wireless communications partner of the 2012 Olympic Games.
