Twitter is more than a social network, claims co-founder Jack Dorsey
Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey has described the platform as being much more than a social network, and said that it should not concern itself with new competitors such as Google+.
Reuters reports that Dorsey, who was speaking at a technology conference in Germany yesterday, said; "We have a lot to concern ourselves with, just building Twitter," when asked about Google+.”
He added; “Social is just one part of what we do. We think of it as an information utility," he said, describing Twitter as a personal news service as much as a social network.”
"You don't have to tweet at all. The biggest value is finding out what's happening in your world in real time,” he continued.
Dorsey also revealed that Twitter was looking to expand outside of the United States, with a team being developed in Germany, as well as in China and across Asia.
