WordStream has created an infographic showing where Google made their $37.9 billion in 2011 advertising revenues.

The sector which spent the most on advertising was finance and insurance, which spent $4.0 billion, with example keywords including “self employed health insurance”, “cheap car insurance”, “credit cards for bad credit”, followed by the retail and general merchandise sector, with travel and tourism coming third.

The top five advertisers in each industry and their estimated spend was obtained by using data from SpyFu.com, then applying the same categorization analysis.
