The Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) has published its annual survey of employment trends amongst its 250 media, advertising and marketing member agencies.

They show an upturn in the total employment base of 2.8%, to an estimated 19,372 – despite ongoing economic turmoil and a decline in the number of agencies in IPA membership.

This comes on the back of a similar increase last year, helping to reverse some of the declines seen in 2008 when the recession struck.

Of these some 90.6% come from a white background with an average age of 33.8 and a roughly equal split between men and women.
