Intel confirms work on first mobile phones
Chip maker Intel has announced its first foray into the booming smartphone market producing devices for Lenovo and Motorola.
The move marks a bid by Intel to directly challenge the dominance of British chip maker Arm which powers the current generation of smartphones.
Intel chief executive Paul Ottellini said the tie ups were “just the beginning” and promised to deliver improved battery life, 16MP camera capable of taking ten snaps per second.
The Lenovo K800 will launch in China during the seconds quarter whilst Motorola will launch their device inEurope and America in the following months.
