Online contact lenses retailer GetLenses has appointed Ashley Mealor to the position of marketing director.

Based in London, his role will include continuing to grow GetLenses’ 30% online market share in the UK, while also implementing new marketing strategies within Europe.

Mealor said: “I’m really looking forward to this new challenge. Raising consumer awareness of the passion we have for contact lenses and the great prices we offer will be key for GetLenses over the coming year. We’ll be deploying a full arsenal of tools to drive awareness both on and off-line, including TV advertising, direct marketing and traditional PR and social media engagement.”

Before joining GetLenses, Mealor spent a year as head of UK operations and marketing for online gaming provider Bwin.com, where he was responsible for brand building and growing the business’s new acquisitions. He has also held positions at O2, Betfair and British Airways.

Michael Kraftman, MD of GetLenses, said: “It’s fantastic to have Ashley join the team. He has extensive experience of working with agile online brands pursuing a strategy of rapid expansion to capture the greatest market share and he will be a fantastic asset as we continue to expand the business into Europe.

“Our marketing campaigns will be essential to helping us attract new customers, as more and more consumers realise the benefits of purchasing their contact lenses online.”
