The Herald has appointed Greig Cameron, formerly deputy editor of Business 7, as its news deputy business editor.

Cameron, who tweeted that today was his first day at the Glasgow based newspaper, replaces Mark Smith in the role.

Primary duties in the role, which was advertising in October, will include producing stories and features and writing analysis and comment pieces for The Herald's daily business section.

Business 7’s editor has not replied to requests to discover if Cameron is to be replaced, of if rumours that another staff member is set to leave are true.
