It's all go for Larry Page of Google. He has just been named the CEO of the Year by Investors Business Daily in the US .

Larry Page: all smiles

Page got the accolade for his success in reorganising the company's management and for leading the buy-out of Motorola Mobility Holdings.

During the year Page also led Google into the social network arena with the launch of Google+ challenging Facebook. He also took on Groupon with Google Offers.

Moves like this have seen Google revenue zoom by 32% and 33% respectively in the past two quarters.

Technorati.com however points out that the decision to give Page the gong "is not without a degree of controversy.

"Firstly, he has only been in the job since April so has not enjoyed a full year in post."

Also, "The results achieved at Google are also no more extraordinary than fellow tech giants Intel or Apple."
