Record online Christmas Day sales see 12% rise on last year
Christmas day saw record numbers shop online, according to research, with a 12% increase recorded this year.
Online retail trade body the IMRG claims that £186.4 million was spent in the UK by shoppers on Christmas day, an increase of 12% on last year’s total of £153m.
The Daily Mail reports that Debenhams saw its Christmas Day traffic rise by 75% on last year, while Halfords has also claimed an increase.
Online sales peaked at noon, before rising again between 9pm and 11pm yesterday, according to the report.
