Facebook lists top 10 games of 2011 - and Zynga misses out on the top slot
Facebook has revealed the top 10 most popular games of 2011 on the social network - and surprise, surprise, Zynga of FarmVille and recent IPO fame was not one of the top two.
Gardens of Time beats Zynga
The Playdom title Gardens of Time was the year's most popular Facebook game, says the social network.
This is a hidden-object game where players work for an organisation protecting the secrets of time travel and maintaining the history of Earth.
Electronic Arts' The Sims Social was the second most popular title. Zynga made it into third place with CityVille .
Zynga, despite the disappointing result of their IPO (it fell below the offering price on the day of the launch) had three more more games in the Top 10, effectively dominating the list.
The list was based on games "with more than 100,000 monthly active users and giving priority to those games with the highest user satisfaction scores,"said Facebook.

In 2011, people "loved playing hidden object, simulation, and casino-related games with their friends," says the social network .
The average game player on Facebook played more than three different gaming titles each month and played more than half the days they visited the site.
Innovation also came from well beyond Silicon Valley. Apps were built by developers around the world from Seattle, Santa Monica, Canada, Germany, Japan, Serbia, and Prague, says Facebook.
