STV has said that it is working on a return for long running crime drama Taggart.

Speaking to the press this morning, STV's director of content Alan Clements admitted that he was working on 'a number of options' to renew the series which was cancelled earlier this year.

"We haven't given up on Taggart and I am exploring all options," Clements revealed.

He also bemoaned the lack of a returning Scottish drama series on screens at present with the demise of series such as Taggart, Monarch of the Glenn and Hamish MacBeth.

"The drama team are in no doubt of my desire for a returnable Scottish drama," he added.
