Swiftcover drops Iggy Pop in favour of dogs for new campaign
Swiftcover is to drop Iggy Pop from its advertising and introduce two new dog characters in his place, the insurance company confirmed today.
The former Stooges singer, who has appeared in Swiftcover's ads since 2009, will be replaced by the 'Swiftbrothers' - a boxer named Sid and a beagle called Johnny.
League of Gentleman duo Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton will voice the main characters, but the ads will retain a musical link with Bez from the Happy Mondays, Noddy Holder and Chris Evans voicing the supporting cast.
The animated campaign has been created by ad agency MWO and produced by animators 12foot6. It will be shown on Facebook for two days, 30 and 31 December, before airing on TV from 2 January.
Tina Shortle, Swiftcover's marketing director, said: "We’re entering a new chapter for swiftcover.com and I’m thrilled to be able to introduce the Swiftbrothers who will front the brand in all campaign activity both on and offline.
"We’ve always tried to put the brands personality through the advertising and this new chapter certainly delivers that light-hearted, humorous approach that swiftcover.com is synonymous for."
