O2's Kasabian headlined New Year's concert to be streamed through YouTube
A performance by Kasabian on New Year’s Eve at The 02 is to be streamed around the world on YouTube.
02 has said that it plans to open up access to its exclusive NYE:Rewired event on New Year’s Event, which will be supported through an advertising campaign.
The event will be streamed through a dedicated O2 and NYE:Rewired branded YouTube channel, which will also be highlighted in the masthead area of YouTube’s homepage, the first time that a musical act has been streamed to the area.
Once finished, the performance will remain available for 48 hours, and then for another two weeks as individual tracks.
The supporting campaign, created by VCCP, will be led by a new version of ‘The Walk’ advert, previously featuring Coldplay and other act’s journey from dressing room to stage, this time featuring Kasabian.
Sally Cowdry, marketing and consumer director for O2, said, “2012 is going to be a big year for the UK and what better way to kick start the celebrations than with a huge NYE party with the UK’s biggest rock band at the UK's best venue. We've worked with Kasabian to create this event for gig goers in the UK and now we're opening up that party to a much bigger audience with YouTube.
“We are continually looking at new ways of delivering incredible music experiences for our customers and this event marks the first step of what will be an exciting year for O2 and live music,” she added.
The event will also include performances from Chase and Status Live and will begin on YouTube from 11pm on New Year’s Eve.
