A Facebook campaign against a possible price hike by Tennents of 40p has been launched, despite the brewers denying the suggestion.

Tennent Caledonian has denied reports that it could be set to raise the price of a pint of Tennents to as much as £3.50 in some bars as it plans to raise the price of each barrel by £40.

This has led to Punch Taverns, which owns more than 300 leased pubs in Scotland considering alternative lager suppliers should such a move be implemented, while a Facebook campaign has also begun.

The ‘Say no to Tennent's Lager price hike of 45p per pint’ community page is aiming to rally support against the move, even though no official announcement has been made.
