Olympics, European Football Championship and Diamond Jubilee expected to boost 2012 ad revenue
The London Olympics, European Football Championship and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee are expected to provide the ‘exceptional circumstances’ needed to grow the UK advertising revenue in 2012, according to IPG Mediabrands division, MagnaGlobal.
Television and outdoor media will benefit the most (growing by 2.3% and 5.2%) while internet media will continue to grow, driven by mobile and video formats.
Overall, media owners’ revenues are expected to grow by 1.4%.
It is expected that the scale and dynamism of Brazil, Russia, India and China will also help sustain global growth.
Internet is expected to become the second biggest media category in 2011, after TV, reaching a 20% global market share in 2012. In the UK, internet will reach a 32% market share and account for £3.9 billion.
