This guy suffered the biggest media meltdown of all time . . . but it seems he's on his way back and hopefully picking up a few more sponsors on the way. Tiger Woods won a golf tournament at the weekend!

Tiger: first trophy in 749 days

This is not the sort of news you would normally turn to the Wall Street Journal for - but that is where it appears today. The paper reported his victory, "felt warm and nostalgic, like the crackle of vinyl on a record player, or a good Robert DeNiro movie." It had been 749 days since Woods last won a title.

In the meantime there was a revolution in Egypt, Donald Trump almost ran for president and Eddie Murphy agreed to host the Oscars until he didn't, said the WSJ.

Everything changed when Woods was in a minor car accident outside his Florida home : his marriage collapsed after revelations of countless affairs - his golf game plummeted, together with his long list of sponsors. His world ranking before the weekend's 18-player Chevron World Challenge was 52.

But on Sunday with back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes Woods "zoomed past Zach Johnson on the tournament's final day to take the 83rd title of his career," said the WSJ.

"When it was over, the 35-year-old unleashed one of his trademark first-pumps, and removed his Nike cap to reveal a thinning hairline."

The New York Times reported, after his last putt for a one-shot victory, "Woods reacted as if he had just won his 15th major. He let out a primal scream and pumped his right fist so vigorously it was a wonder he did not wrench his arm out of its socket. "

The WSJ concluded, " The victory won't bring back all the fans Woods lost, but it felt like a visit from a forgotten old friend."
