Lec launches Facebook advent calendar app with Umpf

British refrigeration brand Lec has taken its first foray into Facebook apps with an advent calendar-themed giveaway, which will randomly choose a daily winner to receive a prize from a £5,000 prize pot.

Winners will be announced at 10am every day via the Lec wall and their profile picture will also appear in the Lec advent calendar, with prizes including Lec fridges, Belling Mediachefs, Roberts Radios, Morphy Richards Kettles and Toasters, Taste Cards and Baby Belling table top cookers.

The app has been created as a Christmas gift for Lec’s Facebook fans and to celebrate Lec’s forthcoming 70th birthday plus the recent launch of its new brand identity. The campaign was created by Lec’s retained PR and social media agency Umpf.

David Garden, commercial director of Lec and GE, said: “We wanted to have a bit of festive fun this Christmas and give something back to our Lec fans – and what better way than with a prize a day, every day until Christmas!

“The advent calendar concept works perfectly for the giveaway – it is intrinsic to Christmas and each winner and their prize will be a surprise every day. It’s a great way to bring some festive good cheer to Facebook and kick off our 70th birthday celebrations which launch next year.”
