Gocompare is to launch a Cinderella themed advert during the X Factor final next Sunday, with opera singer Gio Compario acting out the role of fairy godmother.

The advert was managed by’s in-house marketing team, with the creative concept developed by Siân and Chris Wilkins. The production company was Groundglass, with music created and arranged by Yellow Boat Music.

Gio Compario gets rid of a traffic warden asking Cinderella if her pumpkin is insured, before using the fairy godmother’s wand to create a dress and helping Cinders get to the ball in time. However, he ends up catching the eye of the ugly sisters.

Nick Hall,’s head of marketing, said: “Christmas wouldn’t be the same without a bit of pantomime, so this ad is great for the festive season. The animation, vivid colours and classical choral score make this ad perfect for the Christmas TV line up.

“The message to customers is clear too. Whilst Gio works his magic on Cinderella to get her to the ball, Gocompare can do wonders with expensive car insurance renewals.”
