The BBC has launched a refresh of its corporate websites in a bid to update around 50 separate websites – some of which had become out of date.

In a bid to make them more current, and improve interconnectivity between them, the beeb have rationalised their output into one cohesive service.

This has seen the look and feel of the various elements, from the press office to an about the BBC page, harmonised to give a more consistent and logical presentation.

This has seen the family of websites into a single site composed of five broad categories sharing consistent design and navigation: Inside the BBC, Media Centre, partners & Suppliers, careers and help & feedback .

These all share a common content management system, using standard templates, alongside social media integration.

Ian Hunter, managing editor of BBC Online, said: “Creating a new corporate presence for the BBC is a gradual process. We are working with colleagues to migrate their sites into the new framework as they become due for a refresh. Many have moved today but this is not a "big bang". Others, like BBC Shows and Tours and BBC Supplying will move into the new look and feel over the coming months.”
