Pakistan has pulled the plug on the BBC’s World News Service after deeming the stations output to be “anti-Pakistan”.

The blackout was prompted after the channel broadcast a documentary which claimed that the state was failing to meet its commitments to stamp out terrorism.

Secret Pakistan was spurred by public accusations of complacency and complicity between officials and their responsibilities in the so called “war on terror”.

A BBC Spokesman said: “We are deeply concerned that BBC World News has been taken off air by the Cable Association of Pakistan.

"We condemn any action that threatens our editorial independence and prevents audiences from accessing our impartial international news service. We would urge that BBC World News and other international news services are reinstated as soon as possible."
