Virgin Media developing ad targeting options

Virgin Media is understood to be developing ad targeting options to rival Sky’s AdSmart.

The service will allow adverts across all Virgin platforms to be targeted, with postcode, age and programme packaging to be used to help target the ads.

It has not been revealed if the system will be on an opt-in or an opt-out basis.

Sky has not yet revealed a date for full roll-out of its AdSmart system, which is only available through Sky Player until 2013.
