Debenhams has today announced 58-year-old Jilly Johnson as the face of the Reger by Janet Reger’s Christmas campaign.
The department store, which prides itself on representing diversity, appointed Johnston for the lingerie campaign thirty years after she originally modelled for the Janet Reger label.
Michelle Dowdall, spokesperson for Debenhams, said: “We are committed to using a variety of models, which are a variety of shapes, sizes and ages in our photography.
“Our customers are buying into a lifestyle which they feel is representative of themselves, their own tastes and of similar ages.”
Johnson, face of the campaign added: “As we get older there are certain things that leave us lacking in confidence. No longer do we have taut, concave tummies. I’ve got a bit of a jelly-belly, but I don’t know of a woman at my age who doesn’t!
“I was excited but nervous when Aliza [Reger] asked me to do the shoot for Debenhams. There is a distinct lack of imagery featuring older, more realistic models in the industry, and Aliza and I wanted to show that you don’t have to be in your twenties to look great in lingerie."
The collection will be available in stores from this week.
