Foster's marketing manager Gayle Harrison is to become the new brand director at Heineken UK.

Harrison will take up the post on 6 January and succeed Mark Given, who is leaving the beer company at the end of this year to join O2 as head of sponsorship.

Harrison began her marketing career with L'Oreal and joined Heineken in 2002. She worked on the lager brand's UK relaunch before taking on international assignments in the Caribbean and Central America.

Since 2008 Harrison has been marketing manager for Foster's where she worked on its Good Call advertising campaign, comedy sponsorship and the launch of bottled beer Foster's Gold.

Stefan Orlowski, managing director for Heineken UK, said: "Gayle has an excellent record of building brands and marketing capability, both internationally and here in the UK. Her appointment will ensure a seamless transition and continued momentum on both Foster’s and John Smith’s.”
