The trademark arm gesture made by The X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos upon entering the stage each week is being investigated by Ofcom, after viewers complained that she was advertising her own perfume.

Contostavlos makes a salute each time she enters onto the stage at the beginning of the programme highlighting a tattoo on her arm which reads ‘The Female Boss’, the name of her perfurme.

The gesture has apparently promoted complaints to be made that the tattoo breaks advertising rules, while discussion of the fragrance and the gesture during ITV2 programme The Xtra Factor is also being investigated.
