YouTube has begun its Google+ inspired revamp with a neat developer assisted preview for users who simply cannot wait to try on the new clothes.

Anyone still stuck with the old YouTube can simply access a developer configuration screen, copy in a slice of code and voila… the new site magically appears.

The trick works at present only for browsers using Firefox or Chrome and is accessed thusly:

Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + K (Win) or Cmd + Shift + K (Mac)

Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + J (Win) or Cmd + Alt + J (Mac)

A developer pane should then materialise at the top of the screen to which the following code ought be inputed; document.cookie="VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=ST1Ti53r4fU";

Once the pane is closed and YouTube is rebooted the new site will make itself known.

Amongst other things this allows those with YouTube accounts to customise their homescreens, subscribe to the channels of others and be offered recommended videos based on past viewing activity.
