Chippington joins STV Productions as head of entertainment amidst senior changes

STV Productions has made three senior appointments with former Endemol Scotland producer Gary Chippington joining as head of entertainment, Wendy Rattray as creative director and Michael McAvoy as head of documentaries.

Chippington joins from his own production company Electric Eel Media having also worked with BBC Scotland where he was series producer and creative director of comedy and entertainment. He also worked at Tiger Aspect, Zeppotron and Endemol Scotland.

He will be based in the London offices and handed responsibility for all aspects of STV Productions’ entertainment portfolio.

Rattray takes on the new role of creative director, having previously been executive producer of daytime and factual entertainment at STV Productions while McAvoy has been promoted to head of documentaries. Both will be based at STV’s headquarters in Glasgow.

Alan Clements, director of content for STV said: "Gary's appointment and the promotion of Wendy and Michael significantly strengthens the top team at STV Productions and provides a great platform for us to achieve our aim of doubling our turnover by 2015."

Other key members of the senior team at STV Productions include Liam Hamilton, deputy head of content and Margaret Enefer, head of drama at STV Productions.
