Former Baywatch babe and Playboy playmate Pamela Anderson has been selected to portray the Virgin Mary for a Canadian TV Christmas special - it has been announced.

“A Russell Peters Christmas” is being hosted by the eponymous comedian and is being touted as delivering something “unlike anything viewers have ever seen before.”

Co-starring alongside Anderson in the irony fuelled festivities will be the musician Michael Buble, and actors Jon Lovitz and Ted Lange.

Described as an “irreverent twist” on the seasonal staple it is being broadcast by Canadian channel CTV on December 1.
