The Scottish Government has appointed for temporary campaign managers within its marketing unit, including Jill Walker (nee Taylor) former director of Family.

Walker left Family last month after 10 years as a co-founder and director of the Edinburgh-based advertising agency. At the Government she will oversee the Health marketing team, which includes campaigns such as Smoking, Organ Donation, Take Life On and newly formed campaign Early Detection Cancer Initiative.

Also joining the marketing Unit is Gail Lyall, former senior account manager at Rapp, who will report to Walker, while Katherine Goodwin joins from the Union to work on Greener/Climate Change campaigns and Rachael Watson will support the Safer portfolio, joining from The Leith Agency.

Gillian Govan, chief marketing officer, said: “The seasonal nature of many of the Scottish Government public information campaigns, coupled with an election earlier this year, has meant that the bulk of our marketing activity is concentrated through the winter and into the spring 2011/2012. Our team is a mix of permanent staff and secondees and over the past six months we’ve been running with a smaller team to reflect the seasonal fluctuation in the workload.

“I’m delighted to welcome new secondees to the unit and I’m confident that they will bring new ideas and complement our award winning team. Equally, I’m sure they will gain additional expertise and knowledge from their time within Scottish Government”.
