Bentley boss heads up UK Government role for Volkswagen
The former Chairman of Bentley Dr. Franz-Josef Paefgen is to head up an expansion of Government relations in the United Kingdom for the Volkswagen Group , which is now the UK market leader in car sales

Dr. Paefgen will be supported by Mike Hawes who will assume the role of UK Government Affairs Director for Volkswagen AG.
Dr. Paefgen started his career with the Volkswagen Group in 1980. In 1998 he became chairman of the Audi Board of Audi and president and CEO of Lamborghini. He became Chairman of Bentley in 2002 and held the same post at Bugatti from 2007.
He is also a member of the UK Automotive Council, the Government-Industry partnership charged with promoting and enhancing the car industry.
Mr Hawes, who remains Director for Corporate and Government Affairs at Bentley, will help coordinate the Government-related activities of Volkswagen in the UK. He will focus on new technologies.
The Volkswagen Group owns and operates the Bentley plant in Crewe, where some 3,500 employees produce some of the worlds's most prestigious cars.
