WH Smith sees sales fall
High street retailer WH Smith has announced that sales have fallen by 6% for the first 10 weeks of the financial year, in comparison with the same period in 2010.

In announcing its Interim Management Statement, WH Smith said that its High Street sales had fallen by 5%, while like-for-like sales were down by 6%.
It also revealed that Travel sales were flat, while like-for-like sales were down by 4%. It did claim, however, that its gross margin has increased in-line with its plan, and that the company would continue to identify further opportunities for growth within the UK and around-the-world.
