Disney has announced that it has struck a deal with Google to provide exclusive online content for YouTube in a joint statement issued in partnership with the video hosting service.

It is the latest entertainment tie-up to be announced by YouTube in recent weeks following similar deals with content providers ranging from the Wall Street Journal to singer Jay-Z.

These will fill around 100 new high quality channels on the service as the site aims to attract more viewers for longer with more professional content.

A production budget of between $10 and $15m has been set aside for the Disney partnership, content from which will also be made available on Disney’s own website.

The new channel will be launched in early 2012 and will include both original and existing programming.
