Capablue has developed an interactive karaoke app, Karaoke Superstar, on Smart TVs for DigiTop Ltd.

It will be the first Samsung Smart TV app in the UK to be combined with PayPal payment, allowing users to download tracks for a limited time or for unlimited access. Users will be able to select tracks from a playlist of over 2,000 karaoke videos provided by The Mr Entertainer Karaoke Collection, a registered trademark of Digitop, with new tracks to be added each week.

Tom Cape, MD of VoD and connected TV solutions provider Capablue, said: “Following our award winning Recommendations App, developed for Samsung earlier this year, we are delighted with this latest product. Our design and technical teams worked closely with Digitop to create a high-quality, simple-to-use and aesthetically pleasing music app. Karaoke lovers will be able to access top tunes simply through their Samsung Smart TV. The PayPal functionality will, for the first time, enable users to purchase services through a TV App.”

Gary Oates, managing director of Digitop, said: “Karaoke is as popular as ever in the UK and the Karaoke Superstar App will enable new and existing customers even greater access to our extensive playlists and enjoy karaoke through their Smart TVs. We feel this is the future for singing karaoke at home and are very excited to be working with Samsung and Capablue on this project.”

Soon to be released following the Connected TV application launch will be an accompanying smartphone “companion app”, which will enable the user to sing into their phone and hear their voice played back through the TV mixed with the backing track.
