Manchester Central has appointed Tangerine to shape and implement a PR strategy to raise the profile of the company.

Tangerine’s remit is to handle ongoing media relations and develop a programme of creative campaigns to increase knowledge of Manchester Central’s brand name and reputation. Led by the agency’s B2B team, the strategic programme will target the local community, as well as the conference sector and the wider business community.

The appointment by the convention complex follows a the completion of a three-year £30 million redevelopment, which was partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Paula Lorimer, sales director and deputy CEO of Manchester Central, said: “The Manchester Central site has a long and high profile history as a landmark for Manchester across the UK. However, the Manchester Central that we see today takes that legacy to a whole new, global level.

“With the redevelopment complete, our focus now is to continue enticing the biggest and best events to the complex and the city, and establish it as a landmark for business locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, which Tangerine is going to help us achieve.”

Sam Gregory, Tangerine’s MD, B2B, said: “Manchester Central has come a long way in recent years and we are incredibly excited about working with the team to build its profile as a globally renowned conference venue. With a broad target audience, which has diverse perceptions about the facility and its offer, it’s a complex PR challenge, but exactly the type we specialise in and relish.”
