Aviva has claimed its advertising campaign featuring comedian Paul Whitehouse helped it become the UK's biggest insurance firm in the UK.

The company, which today released Q3 figures, said UK general insurance sales are up 12%, part of which it attributes to the marketing campaign.

The company said: "Our brand continues to deliver real business benefit as consumers turn to brands they trust to save for their future and protect themselves and their families during uncertain times."
