Apple’s engineers are facing a re-run of last years iPhone 4 ‘antenna-gate’ affair with a slew of complaints from frustrated iPhone 4S owners that their machines battery life leaves something to be desired.

Some customers have complained of a significant decrease in longevity for the new phones with reports in the guardian claiming that some owners are being contacted directly by Apple as baffled engineers seek to get to the root of the problem.

In its official documentation Apple admits that the standby time for its latest device is just 200 hours, 100 hors less than the iPhone 4.

One customer told the paper that his battery life was declining by 10% in standby mode every hour – even when all apps were turned off.
