EA Sports is giving away 5,000 free footballs to amateur teams and local communities as part of a campaign to promote new video game FIFA 12.

As part of the Love Football Play Football campaign, Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is starring in a series of YouTube tutorials showing players some of the skills they can try with their new footballs.

EA Sports has worked on the cmapaign with the Football Foundation, and the balls will be given to community sports facilities in towns and cities across the country.

Alastair Bennett, director of communications and corporate relations at the Football Foundation, said: "Football is at the heart of most communities and with EA Sports’ ability to resonate with a wide football audience, we’re confident this partnership can provide much needed support for many community football clubs.”
