Nokia hope their latest smartphone offering will prove ninth time lucky for the ailing mobile phone giant, but what features does it offer to stand out in a crowded market?

Here The Drum identifies five features which, Nokia hopes, will tempt you to part with your hard earned.

Nokia N9's top five killer apps:

1. “the swipe” - If the N9 is noted for anything it is in the use of its innovative swipe functionality, a feature which early reviewers have heralded as the future for mobile navigation. With a simple flick of the wrist toward the four edges of the screen users can bring up, hide and display a range of windows, menus and functionality. It could consign the ubiquitous “home” button to the technology dustbin.

2. ‘Drive’ app - Motorists are also well catered for in the form of a ‘Drive’ app which grants owners the ability to transform their handset into a fully functioning satnav system to guide you to your next meeting.

3. Fastest camera - Buried elsewhere in the phone is what is purported to be the “fastest camera on any phone”, ensuring that snappers can launch, focus and shoot quicker than any comparable device.

4. Dolby surround sound - Music lovers are also well catered for with the ability to transform regular headphones into personal surround sound thanks to support for Dolby Headphone and Dolby Digital Plus.

5. ‘Instantly’ online - Web addicts are well served by an HTML5 compatible browsing which whilst not the very fastest, is still pretty snappy.
