A listings website targeting students around Manchester has been created for young entrepreneur Rob Smith by Creative Spark.

The site, whatsonrob.com will target 18-25 year olds, and will be rolled out to other university cities in the future, with Newcastle to be followed by Leeds, Liverpool and Sheffield.

Tickets will be sold through the site, which will also host student nights at different venues across Manchester, with two-members-of staff working with Smith to update content.

Commented Smith: “People get inundated with flyers about student nights, so I thought it would be good to get all that information in one place so people can plan their nights out or have a list of places to go at the last minute. There’s so much going on in the city, I want whatsonrob to become a one-stop shop for entertainment of all types whether it be gigs, alternative theatre or special student nights.

“At the moment I’m building up the hits. We’re well on target to hit 5,000 unique users by Christmas, so the early signs are promising. We’re not too concerned about the monetary side of things just yet, we just want to make the site the best it possibly can be and watch those hits grow as a result.”

Neil Marra, managing director of Creative Spark, added: “It’s really exciting working with a young talent like Rob, who knows exactly what he wants to achieve and was very receptive to our ideas. It’s a brilliant site. I’m looking forward to seeing it develop.”
