A security service website designed by the Intelligence Services Commissioner to publicise the work of former High Court judges overseeing the work of MI5 and MI6 has had to be shut down over concerns that the public could amend any page at will.

A spokesman for the Commissioner said that the open access version of the website had been intended to form part of a “transparency drive” to allow people to freely comment, adding that no sensitive material was hosted on the site and it was not linked to other systems.

The only comment received however was from a member of the public concerned at the naivety of allowing open access to the content management of an official government website.

It has since been replaced by a non-editable version.
