A private memorial service for Steve Jobs will be held tomorrow evening on the campus at California's Stanford University, where he famously gave the commencement address in 2005, according to the Wall Street Journal, which quoted "several invitees."

A company spokesman told Apple's local paper, the San Jose Mercury News that the event was private and would not disclose details about where or what time it would take place.

The Journal said the invitation asked RSVPs to be given to the Emerson Collective, a non-profit group founded by Jobs' wife, Laurene Powell.

Invitations have been sent to prominent Silicon Valley figures, the paper said.

Apple also plans an event its employees at its Cupertino headquarters on October 19.
