Apple has published six new apps to accompany the launch of the latest iteration of its mobile operating system – iOS 5.

The fashionable tech giant is offering users Newsstand, Reminders, Find My Friends, Cards, iTunes Movie Trailers and AirPort Utility via its App Store or as an update to iOS 5 in what is the largest such software rollout offered by the firm to date.

Of these one of the more interesting is Newsstand, a periodicals counterpart to iBooks, allowing users to store their magazine and newspaper subscriptions.

Find My Friends meanwhile does exactly what it says on the tin – allowing close friends and family to track each others whereabouts via an optional location sharing tool.

With several of the apps encroaching on existing third party apps it has stoked speculation that Apple may be more aggressively targeting the app development market.
